UNDERSTANDING WHY WE GIVE FINANCIALLY TO THE CHURCH

By: Pastor Donna Kirvin

Our financial offerings are to be give based on only the love we have for God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Our financial giving to the church speaks volumes to our trust in God himself, His Word which is the truth, the life and the light of man.  The embodiment of His Word Jesus, who was made flesh and dwelled on the earth with us as a physical being. Jesus the Christ who was crucified, buried and resurrected on the third day who is Our Lord and Savior and Our Redeemer. Not to leave out the Holy Spirit in which God the Father and God the Son, Jesus the Christ has sent to us to dwell within every believer of the work of the cross that Jesus Christ fulfilled.

In all this God display and demonstrated His love for us. He showed us that He will not withhold any good thing from us. And that God the Father wants what is best for us, which is an intimate relationship with in.

God wants a loving relationship with us, a relationship that expresses our love for him, by our actions, words, thoughts, conversations, our faith in His Son, His Word, and our obedience to the will of God for our lives.

We will know by our hearts, our thoughts, our action, our conversation, our faith in His Son, His Word and our obedience to the will of God for our lives. The Holy Spirit should be able to speak to your heart (Mind) guiding you on how much to give to His church financially to support the ministry that spread the Word and the Love of God.  We as believers should desire to be a financial blessing to the Church and body of Christ where we serve at, where we call our home church, where participate in bible study at. In hopes to support the church, to help with the bills of the church, to be able to be used to help others and to move the ministry forward.

When we give, we should not have a motive behind our giving to the Church; because we are given directly to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  The Bible teaches when we give to the least of them, we have given unto God. We must remember we cannot out give God. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 Remember this:  whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. And whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

When we give financially, we are acknowledging God’s worth too us, and our appreciation to Him and the work that He is doing in our lives and we want to help the church to do the work of Christ on the earth. It is also a testimony of God in our life. We give because we Love God, we honor God, we worship God, and we want to be a testimony of God’s provision for our lives as believers in Christ Jesus.
